Instruction for arrival to Paljakka and staying in Paljakka
- The driver will meet you at the airport with a sign with your name or “Paljakka” on it.
- Tell the driver that you are going to Paljakka
- Your guide will wait for you in Paljakka and take you to your accommodation.
A welcome meeting will then take place at Restaurant Safari Kööki & Barri - If your flight arrives very late, the driver may take you directly to your cottage. (If your flight is delayed)
- On the way to Paljakka, you will stop at a grocery store where you can buy supplies.
- The restaurant is open every day. You can buy take-away meals, and the restaurant shop sells daily essentials.
- If you need another visit to the grocery store, please tell your guide and they will arrange it.
- Every room has fully equipment kitchen. The coffee maker is a filter coffee model, and the filters are provided in your kitchen.
- If you have booked half board, you can enjoy your late dinner on the day of arrival.
For very late arrivals, dinner will be delivered to your cottage. (If your flight is delayed)
Restaurant
The restaurant is open every day. You will receive the opening hours upon arrival.
Enjoy a delicious selection of local and international dishes, from hearty burgers to regional specialties, paired with a wide variety of drinks—including our local craft beer.

Breakfast
Breakfast is served daily from 9:00 to 10:00.
If you have early activities or an early flight, breakfast will be available earlier.
Activities
All activities will start from Restaurant Kööki & Bar. Snowmobile Safar, Fatbike Safar and Ice fishing will start from Safari House. Next to the Restaurant.
Sauna activities start from the Sauna Yard.

If you want to book additional activities or make changes to your program, always ask your guide.
Weather
The weather can change quickly. Freezing temperatures are not as cold as you might expect, so there is no need to be afraid of the cold.

Clothing
It is very important to dress properly.
- Wear layers.
- Always wear wool or merino wool as the base layer against your skin.
- Keep your feet and hands warm.
- Dry your boots thoroughly every night.
- Be extremely careful with children.
- Every apartment has its own drying cabinet.
You can buy local wool socks from the restaurant or Safari House.
Hiking and other activities
You can hike independently in the area.
You can rent a plastic sledge, a popular activity for both children and adults.
Price: 3 € / 1.day and 1€/extra day.

Be careful on public pedestrian and cycle paths, and on all traffic routes. Watch out for children!
Because it gets dark early, (December-February) ( please take a headlamp with you.
If you want to visit nearby destinations, you can ask about renting a car.

The trail can be walked with regular shoes, depending on the snow conditions.
Fire Huts
The fire huts are available for everyone to use, (when open). Open huts are for public use.
You can request fire starters and matches from the restaurant.
Aurora
If you are lucky, you may see the Northern Lights. The sky must be clear and the aurora index high.
You can download an Aurora app and set an alarm for active auroras.

Accommodation Instructions
- Please close the door carefully (otherwise cold air may freeze the water pipes).
- Do not open the windows.
- Turn off the house ventilation fan when not needed. Use it only during cooking or bathing. If you left it on, the apartment may get cold.
- Toilet paper and dishwashing detergent are provided in each apartment.
- Please take your trash to the bin shelter in the yard. Sort waste if your apartment has recycling bins.

a. A hairdryer is available in the apartment.
b. Towels, large and small, are ready in the apartment. Please note that intermediate cleaning and towel changes are not done during your stay. You can get new ones upon request
and for an additional fee.
Check-Out
- Final cleaning is included in the room price.
- Put please wash the dishes.
- Put things back in their place.
- Put remove the sheets from the beds.
For late flights, ask your guide about a late check-out.

Sauna
- Every apartment has its own sauna.
- The second switch adjusts the temperature. 60–70 °C is a good choice.
- The second switch turns on the sauna. You can set it for 1-2 hours. The sauna will be ready in about 30 minutes.
Only use the silent range or the 1-4 hour range, otherwise the timer will be activated and the sauna will only start heating up later. - Shower before entering the sauna. Traditional Finnish sauna is used naked.
(If you have booked a sauna activity, a swimsuit is required.) - Do not take towels inside the sauna.
- Sit pads are available in the apartment.
- The Finnish sauna works properly only if you pour water on the stove regularly.
Safety: Wildlife & Crime & Ice
The area has many wild animals, but they do not pose a danger to people.
It is safe to move around even in the dark; animals are afraid of people.
There is no crime in the area.
The region has many lakes and rivers.
Do not go onto the ice unless you are sure it is safe.
Traffic
Remember to walk on the left side of the road.
There are no traffic jams, but when cars pass, the road can be slippery and stopping takes time.
Do not walk on cross-country ski tracks.
There are marked winter walking trails you can use. Ask your guide for more information.
Walkways can be slippery in winter.
The area is small, and it is easy to chat with locals or ask them for help.
